The Greek Garden Restaurant (Findlay, OH USA) was turned into a music-amphitheater for one night. It was an amazing event to benefit Awakening Minds Art. It
is a non-profit based Findlay organization that focuses on children and adults with disabilities. (www.awakeningmindsart.org)
The crowd was incredible
and "Dancing in the Street".
Kudos to the Greek for making a hot summer’s evening a soundboard for the “BLUES”. The talented
Joey Gilmore and his band played to a packed-outside venue under the stars. Wow!
Joey Gilmore, a Floridian, is a true Blues man who has traveled the globe.
He is considered one of the best soul-blues and R&B singers in the business. Gilmore has shared the stage with such legends as James Brown (Abrams represented James Brown after leaving Motown.), Etta James, Bobby Bland, Little Milton,
Johnny Taylor and other stars.
MB&W attended the open air off-Main Street parking lot concert and presented Gilmore with a privately-labeled bottle of MB&W
wine and box of locally made chocolates.
We also had the awesome opportunity to be seated at Gilmore's table.
Joey & the band gave Motown Black & White a gracious thank you by incorporating a Motown song into their evening’s performance for Abrams' legacy, Margot, who was reluctant to go on stage to be serenaded with a rendition
of "My Girl".
MB&W also purchased one of the Awakening Minds centerpieces created by their talented students and sent it to Florida with Joey and his
Hopefully, the Greek will host another such open air-concert to benefit a deserving non-profit organization.
Music is always an icebreaker on a hot summer’s evening, especially in an amphitheater where the focus is on the music.
Learning to write the
Greek alphabet ... not that night.
